Sunset On Majorda Beach

Majorda Beach

Best time to visit:
November to February
About The Beach:
Majorda Beach is located at a distance of 18 kms, from Dabolim Airport, and just 5kms from the Colva Beach. This beach is very famous for delicious breads. This place in Goa has a very interesting history behind it. Majorda is the village where the Jesuits, fond as they were of the good things of life, discovered the best Goan toddy (sap from the coconut palm), which they used to leaven the bread. Naturally, then, Majorda in Goa is the place where the Goans were first trained in the delicate art of baking European breads.
The Majordans are still Goa's best bakers. The delights of the beach, however, were discovered much earlier, in the mythic times when the gods above went through a lot of turmoil. There is a Goan version of Ramayana and therein Lord Rama was kidnapped as a child and brought up at Majorda. Later, in pursuit of Sita, he camped at Cabo de Rama-a headland further south-where the stretch of developed beaches ends.

Cavelossim Beach

Path Leading To The Beach

Best Time To Visit:
November to March
About The Beach:
The soft white sands, the black lava rocks, beaches south of Benaulim where you explore the Cavelossim Beach. Cavelossim Beach, straddling the coast road 11-km south of Colva, is the last major settlement in southwest Salcete: its only claim to fame. This beach is more clean and quiet than most of the famous beaches of Goa.A short way beyond the village's picturesque church square, a narrow lane veers left across an open expanse of paddy fields to the Cavelossim-Assolna ferry crossing near the mouth of the Sal River.
If one is heading south to Canacona, turn left off the ferry and carry on as far as Assolna Bazaar, clustered around a junction on the main road. A right turn at this crossroads puts you on track for Canacona.
When here do plan a visit to Mabor, South Goa largest, and most obtrusive, package tourist enclave. Crammed together on to a narrow spit of dunes between the surf and estuary, the holiday inns and beach resorts combine to create a holiday camp ambience that has as little to do with Goa as their architecture.
