Vagator Beach Pictures

Vagator Beach

Location: 9 km from Mapusa, North Goa district
Nearby Attraction: Anjuna Beach, Chapora Fort
Highlights: Scenic surroundings, secluded ambience
Best Time To Visit: September To March

When it comes to scenic beauty, Vagator beach is undeniably one of the best beaches in the world. 22 kms from capital city, Panaji, this beach is the north most beach of Bardej Taluka. The Vagator beach is part of a 30 km stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa that is home to some of the top-notch Goan beaches such as the Calangute beach and the Anjuna beach. Vagator overlooked by the 500-year-old Portuguese fort, leaves each visitor dumbstruck with its soft white sands, the black lava rocks, the coconut palms, the lush green landscape, friendly farmhouses, pictorial Portuguese bungalows and the sea turning from aquamarine to emerald green. The crescent shaped beach has become a favorite spot among tourists for midnight parties.
Vagator, like Anjuna, is a relaxed and fairly undeveloped place. It has an excellent, hassle-free atmosphere. If one wants to have a good time on the beach and want to party to the maximum, this is definitely the place to go. To reach this beach, you have to walk about a minute down a steep cliff. The beach is split into two by seaside headland, to the north is North Vagator Beach lined with dense palm plantations and white sand, it is the main beach and is undeniably beautiful. However as it is a prime bus stop for domestic tourists, a lie on the sand or a peaceful swim is out of the question here. Towards the south is the Little Vagator Beach also called as Ozrant Beach at the end of which is a prominent landmark of the face of Shiva sculpted by someone on a rock on the shore. However it has been eroded by wave action. And in the center is a tiny beach cut off from Ozrant down the cliff. This is Middle Vagator beach also called the Tel Aviv Beach. All three beaches are popular with tourist particularly British and Israeli tourists.
Inseparable from Vagator is the Chapora village inhibited by a predominantly fishing community. The village gives the beach an old world charm.
